This lesson explains how to use “lied about being” and “lied about + verb -ing” to talk about situations where someone was not honest about an action or a state. We use “lied about being + noun/adjective” when someone lies about their identity, condition, or situation: He lied about being a doctor. She lied about being sick. We use “lied about + verb -ing” when someone lies about an action: He lied about working late. She lied about meeting him. In both patterns, “about” is followed by a gerund (-ing form).
