Solar Sister! The Posies off 1993's Frosting on the Beater album. It's a great record of almost Grunge. What makes it stand out from that Seattle sound, is the fine Vocal Harmonies from Ken Stringfellow and Jon Auer. They were made to sing together. These videos serve as lessons on how I play this bunch of Pop, Rock, and Reggae songs - sometimes as a single guitarist playing the only guitar part, though that's rare. And sometimes if there is more than one guitar part, then trying to find the single good path through the tune. I complete one pass, demonstrating different Rhythm parts, styles, and techniques. There is no talking. No discussion. No note-for-note explanations. As such, for clarity, my guitar is supposed to be louder in the mix than it would ever be in a live setting. But, if you really want to hear what I hear, do what I do and put on a good pair headphones with great bass response! It's worth it. Why this is important to Rhythm Guitar: The drone. This song is in Drop D, but I play it differently. One Guitarist in a band should lower the low E to D, but the other Guitarist should do what I do here. Drop the HIGH E string down to D and both should capo the third fret. The Drop D tuning on the high E string just makes the second Guitar ring like it should. All those F notes! Remember, there are two Guitarists in this band, and playing different things is what makes a group sound huge and oftentimes awesome. Jon Auer has played this song without dropping the low E string down. It's a cool trick dropping the high E string. Especially if you love the jangle like I do. #echohead #rhythmguitar #powerpop
