Complacency, Lack Of Consequence Dooming Saints' Season, Progress

The New Orleans Saints need consequences before they can expect improvement, and the bye week creates a critical opportunity for change. Is the biggest problem talent, coaching, or the decision-making at the top of the organization? Kellen Moore must evaluate a struggling run game and the coaching of Brendan Nugent. Daniel Carlson’s 66.7% field-goal rate, tied for the NFL’s worst among employed kickers, raises the possibility of turning to Charlie Smyth. Martin Emerson’s promotion after two interceptions shows the value of rewarding strong play, but the Saints also need accountability for poor performance. The discussion examines Mickey Loomis, Gayle Benson, roster decisions, coaching changes, and whether New Orleans can establish a culture where poor execution has real consequences.
