Welcome to my full build of Revell's 1/72 Heinkel He 177 A-5 Greif! Designed as a long-range heavy bomber, the He 177 was plagued by technical problems throughout its development and service life, particularly with its unusual coupled-engine arrangement, which gave the aircraft the appearance of a twin-engined bomber despite actually being powered by four engines. Despite its troubled history, the He 177 was a remarkably elegant aircraft and saw operational service in a variety of roles, including maritime operations with KG 100, where some aircraft were equipped to carry the infamous Fritz X radio-guided bombs. Join me as I tackle Revell's original 2000 release of the Luftwaffe's ambitious, beautiful and spectacularly disastrous 4 engine bomber! This video will include: 🔹 Painting and detailing Revell's impressive He 177 cockpit and interior. 🔹 Assembling the large airframe and dealing with some small gaps and fit issues. 🔹 Tackling the fiddly landing gear assembly. 🔹 Airbrushing a unusual KG 100 mottled maritime camouflage scheme. 🔹 Painting and fitting the Fritz X radio-guided bombs. 🔹 Attempting to improve the kit's clear parts by vacuforming replacements. 🔹 Weathering the aircraft using enamel washes and oil paints. 🔹 Reviewing the finished model and sharing my thoughts on Revell's original 2000 tooling. Despite its rather disastrous operational history, the He 177 remains one of the Luftwaffe's most fascinating and unusual aircraft, and Revell's 1/72 offering is a fantastic representation of this enormous and surprisingly elegant bomber. I hope you enjoy this rather large build of an unusual and rather smexy-looking subject!
