About Erebuni-Yerevan Erebuni-Yerevan is the birthday of Armenia's capital, celebrated every October since 1968. Yerevan traces its origin to 782 BC, when the Urartian king Argishti I founded the fortress of Erebuni — the name "Yerevan" itself comes from Erebuni, making it one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in the world.
