Open Source Models Are the Future (Zuckerberg Was Right)

Something we should all be doing as software engineers: running open models on our own machines. The closed LLMs might be dead on arrival now that open weights are out. And honestly, what I'm afraid of is the political push to block open models — that would tie all of our hands to one or two companies, Claude or Anthropic, whether we like it or not. I don't want that. I agree with Zuckerberg on this one: open source models are the future. Understanding how to build and use harnesses gives us the freedom to take an open model and apply our own custom harnesses — or use the existing ones out there. That's probably where we are in five years, maybe sooner. So go learn the harnesses, download open models onto your computers, play with them. That will set you up for the future.
