Wreck diving in the Baltic Sea, near the coast of Liepāja in Latvia

Wreck diving near the coast of Liepāja, city in Latvia. The first ship visited - Beverina (depth ~15m). Sunk near the coast, during a storm, ~1970. Before that, it collected old cables from the times of the USSR, when its engine died. Another ship came to the rescue, towed it to the coast, but was denied entry to the harbor due to a broken engine. It moored nearby, but during the storm, for unknown reasons, the rear compartment opened and the spools of collected cables tilted, causing the ship to capsize. It sank within a few minutes, all the crew perished. The second ship visited - Waal (depth ~25m). It was a small tanker that ran into a World War II mine, already after the end of the war, in 1946.
