Do you use the word “finish” for everything? In English, the best phrase depends on what you mean. Today, let’s practise some simple sentences you can use in daily life.
If you complete a task, you can say: “I’ve finished my work.” You can also say, “I’m done with my work.”
If a class or meeting reaches its end, say: “The class is over” or “The meeting has ended.”
If there is no milk left, say: “We’ve run out of milk.” If someone has used all the milk, you can say: “We’ve used up all the milk.”
And when you want to bring a conversation or meeting to a close, you can say: “Let’s wrap up.”
Now practise with me:
“I’m done with my work.”
“The class is over.”
“We’ve run out of milk.”
“Let’s wrap up.”
