The AI You Trained

Speakers: Joshua Thomas and Maureen Tomlinson Build-an-Ally: The AI You Trained is an interactive, hybrid workshop that explores how human bias can unintentionally be encoded into AI systems. Participants will help "train" an AI through a live Kahoot exercise and then watch it evaluate a set of fictional job candidates, revealing how everyday assumptions can influence AI-driven decisions. Through guided discussion, audience interaction, and practical examples, attendees will examine the relationship between AI, inclusion, accessibility, and human judgement, leaving with concrete actions they can apply when AI is used in workplace decision-making. This 60-minute session will be delivered live from Toronto on 22 September 2026, with virtual participation, viewing parties, and an on-demand experience available to ensure broad accessibility and engagement.
