There are artists you love. There are artists you admire. And then there’s Garth Brooks.
And for me, LL, the story really begins in Los Angeles in 2008.
Garth played those record-breaking five shows in two days to raise money for wildfire relief, and I got to bring my parents along for what would become my very first time meeting him. Of all the things I remember from that day, one of my favorites is my mom talking to Garth about “More Than a Memory” and trying to explain the way the song made her feel.
The word she landed on? Plaintive.
And somehow, that one conversation became the beginning of nearly two decades of pretty incredible Garth stories.
This week on Married to Radio, we’re looking back at a career’s worth of memories with the GOAT himself, and somehow, every story leads to another one.
From Trisha’s Tailgate in Glendale to Mile High Stadium. From backstage hangs and unforgettable concerts to celebrating Garth’s historic seventh Diamond Award in Nashville in 2016. From Trisha Yearwood casually hand-delivering homemade Oreo brownies (because apparently that is a thing that can happen in real life) to our most recent Garth adventure together at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas in 2024.
But this episode is about more than the places we’ve been or the incredible access we’ve had. It’s about the relationships that got us there and the people we’ve been lucky enough to know along the way.
A huge thank you to Mandy McCormack for kicking off this episode, and to Glenn Noblit, Bob Doyle and the entire Garth family who have been part of so many memories over the years.
Now, with Garth heading back out on the road again, it felt like the perfect time to open the vault.
The concerts. The backstage stories. The brownies. The friendships. The moments we still can’t believe we got to experience.
This one’s for The GOAT. 🐐
