This turned out to be our most epic and unexpected hike in the Seychelles, even though it wasn’t the plan at all. We started at Beau Vallon Beach, made our way to Mare Aux Cochons Lake, and decided to check out a waterfall marked on the map. Unfortunately, the waterfall turned out to be a myth—it simply wasn’t there. Going back the way we came was no longer an option, so we had to descend to the opposite side of the island, ending up at Petite Plage en Face Therese.
Getting back to Beau Vallon was a whole adventure on its own: we had to take a bus with a transfer in Victoria, and we barely had enough money for the tickets. There wasn’t a single cent left for a well-deserved beer, which was a real letdown after such an exhausting hike.
We were accompanied by a loyal dog we met near some construction workers at the start of our journey. She became our guide at times, leading the way when we weren’t entirely sure where to go. In the end, she stayed on the far side of the island, as coming back with us would’ve been too difficult for her. We like to think she found new friends there, but we still miss our fluffy companion.
Petite Plage en Face Therese.
