It told the story of a black-and-white ultrasound photo mailed to me as I was heading overseas—a picture I carried inside my helmet, and the years I later lost with my daughter because I convinced myself that walking away was somehow protecting her. More Than a Picture takes place years later. My daughter is grown, and we're standing together at a concert. For years, crowds and events meant watching exits, reading the room, staying tense, and sometimes having to leave. But that night, somewhere between the lights, the music, and watching my daughter enjoy herself, I realized something had changed. I wasn't looking for the exits. I was just there. It would be easy to make that accomplishment about me, but that isn't what this song means. It's about her. All those years ago, I carried a little black-and-white picture of her inside my helmet.
