Highlights of the World Physical Therapy Day 2026 Celebration at Isra University Hyderabad

Isra Institute of Rehabilitation Sciences (IIRS), Isra University Hyderabad, celebrated World Physical Therapy Day 2026 on Tuesday, 15 September 2026, at Isra Institute of Rehabilitation Sciences (IIRS), Hyderabad, with great enthusiasm, creativity, and active participation from students and faculty members. The event was held under the leadership of Prof. Dr. Navaid Kazi, Dean, Faculty of Allied Health Sciences (FAHS). The distinguished Guests of Honor included Prof. Dr. Navaid Kazi, Dean, Faculty of Allied Health Sciences (FAHS) and Prof. Dr. Salman Ahmed Farsi Kazi, Chairperson, Department of Forensic Medicine, Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences (FBMS), and former Vice Dean, FBMS. This year’s World PT Day theme focused on “The role of physiotherapy and physical activity in the prevention, management, and rehabilitation of cardiovascular disease and stroke.” In line with the theme, an Inter-Batch Poster Presentation Competition was organized, providing students with an opportunity to demonstrate their academic knowledge, creativity, communication skills, and understanding of the vital role of physical therapy and physical activity in cardiovascular health, stroke prevention, management, and rehabilitation. The poster competition was judged by Prof. Dr. Yar Mohammad Nizamani, Acting Principal, IIRS Hyderabad; Dr. Ayesha Naseer, Acting Principal, Isra College of Pharmacy Hyderabad; Dr. Muhammad Ahmed, Assistant Professor, IIRS Hyderabad and Dr. Kanwal Lalwani, Assistant Professor, IIRS Hyderabad. Students from different DPT batches participated enthusiastically in the competition. The winners from each batch were as follows: • 1st Year DPT – January 2026 Batch: Group 3 secured the winning position. The group members were Mr. Muhammad Shahab Khan, Mr. Muhammad Noman, Mr. Taha, Ms. Ume Umama, Ms. Saneha, and Ms. Wajiha Khan • 1st Year DPT – July 2026 Batch: A tie was declared between Group 1 and Group 6. Group 1 comprised Ms. Uneeba Talat Ms. Aliza Thahim, Ms. Roobisha Memon, Ms.,Ms. Zunera Shaikh and Ms. Muskan, while Group 6 comprised Ms. Bakhtawar, Ms. Dua Bhatti, Rutba, Ms. Tuba Gul, and Ms. Warsha Ajmal. • 2nd Year DPT – January & July 2026 Batches: Group 2 emerged as the winner, comprising Ms. Mahnoor Magsi, Ms. Muskan Sadiq, Ms. Fiza Yaseen, Ms. Rameen Zulfiqar, Ms. Misbah M. Mugheer, Ms. Tazeeb Abrejo, Ms. Aisha Abdul Aziz, Ms. Fiza Altamash, Ms. Najaf Shah, Ms. Fatima Munawar, and Ms. Maheen Shaikh. • 3rd Year DPT – January 2024 Batch: Group 8 secured the winning position, with Ms. Dua Ibrahim, Ms. Aisha Surahio, and Ms. Tashfeen as group members. • 4th Year DPT – January 2023 Batch: Group 1 was declared the winner. The group included Ms. Muqadas Noor, Ms. Roshni Kumari, and Ms. Umama Malik. • 5th Year DPT – January 2022 Batch: Group 2 secured the winning position, represented by Ms. Fatima Akif. All winning students were awarded cash prizes and participants with certificates in recognition of their outstanding performance, creativity, and dedication. The celebrations also featured a cake-cutting ceremony in the classrooms of all DPT batches. Students beautifully decorated their classrooms with creative and meaningful displays related to the theme. Shields were awarded to the top three best-decorated classes in recognition of their creativity, teamwork, coordination, and enthusiasm. The Final Year DPT Batch (January 2022) secured 1st Position, followed by the 1st Year DPT Batch (January 2026) in 2nd Position, while the 3rd Year DPT Batch (January 2024) secured 3rd Position. The Guests of Honor and distinguished judges were warmly acknowledged and thanked for their valuable time, presence, and contribution to the success of the event. As a token of appreciation, they were presented with traditional Ajraks, commemorative shields, and certificates of appreciation in recognition of their gracious participation, support, and valuable services. The event reflected the remarkable teamwork, leadership, creativity, discipline, and organizational skills of the students. The active participation and dedicated support of faculty members and coordinators played a significant role in making the celebration successful. Such activities provide students with valuable opportunities to strengthen their communication, presentation, leadership, teamwork, and professional skills beyond the classroom. The successful celebration demonstrated the academic excellence, unity, creativity, and strong commitment of Isra Institute of Rehabilitation Sciences, Isra University Hyderabad, toward excellence in Physical Therapy education and professional practice.
