This path is an old track leading to the Long Bien Bridge, laid by the French over a century ago to govern Indochina. Once a passage for imperialism and a supply route that withstood bombings during the war, it has now become a humble courtyard where someone’s simple life hangs. Traces of sleepers carved away by heavy iron over the long years. The heavy gaze of the train calmly traverses between that painful history and the starkly realistic daily life. The way Vietnam’s modern history flows like a distant murmur between those old, layered walls evokes a sense of lingering regret. A train passes right through a quiet neighborhood. No warning, no pause — just movement. It only lasted a moment, but somehow it stayed with me.
