We had the opportunity to attend a Heritage Festival and wanted to see the quilting competition. I did not count how many were entered, but the quilts dated back to the civil war up to 2026.
I found out that the last of the 2026 quilts, which I entitled "Child of God", was a scripture "welcome" baby quilt for a child that was to be born any day. ( It is at 16:25 in the video.)
The quilts were voted on by the visitors by placing a star sticker on a paper attached to the quilt. The quilt with the most stars won first, second or third place. There were so many beautiful quilts I am glad I was not a judge for the final overall best quilt.
I walked through the exhibit and tried getting it the best I could (not knowing anything about quilting) and noting any information that was given.
There were plenty of activities and sites to visit during this two day event, including a pie eating contest. We were not able to see it all due to the amount of walking, but were able to enjoy indoor events and the live music throughout the day.
