R-Type on Neo Geo CD: stage 2 longplay, PC Engine soundtrack (free beta 0.5.1)

Stage 2 of the Neo Geo CD port of R-Type (Irem, 1987), from the title screen to the Gomander boss and the STAGE CLEARED screen, no life lost, no invincibility. The Force goes in front of the ship, the wave cannon clears the way, and at the boss the ship tucks in above the claws to keep the Force on the blue eye. The video starts on the title screen: the secret code A B C D C B A opens the secret menu, where stage 2 is selected, infinite lives on (never needed here), invincibility off, and the PC Engine soundtrack (R-Type Complete CD arrangements) as CD audio. Beta 0.5.1 is about smoothness: far fewer dropped frames than 0.4.4 in most stages, and no more frozen sprites during the bosses. The original V30 code of the Irem M72 board is translated instruction by instruction to the 68000, and the game logic was checked byte by byte against the arcade board on more than 15,000 frames.
