In This Video, three British officials try to invent powers that don't exist — and all three get caught on camera doing it. First, an officer outside a police station threatens a search under the Terrorism Act for one reason and one reason only: he doesn't know why a man is standing on a public pavement with a camera. Watch him say the quiet part out loud. Then we head to Thornbridge, where one constable tells a filmer to leave because the station is "sensitive," while another officer at the same building, on the same pavement, minutes later, says he has no issue at all — same law, opposite answers, and only one of them actually read it. Finally, central London, where a high-vis security guard decides the pavement outside a government building belongs to him and demands the camera be turned away — until the real police arrive and calmly confirm there's no offence being committed. Three settings, three uniforms, one identical instinct: claim the power, then hope nobody asks which one. Filming from a public pavement is not a crime. You do not have to account for your presence in a public place. And a terrorism search needs actual suspicion of terrorism, not a shrug and a hunch.
