Hughley joked about the odd casting choice, noting that it felt like Ice Cube wasn’t the ideal actor to play a government analyst during an extraterrestrial crisis. Despite the harsh critique of the film’s script and delivery, Hughley acknowledged Ice Cube’s solid performances in previous hits like "Friday" and "Boyz n the Hood," praising his ability to play himself authentically on screen. While not on the acting level of someone like Will Smith, Hughley still expressed admiration for Ice Cube’s body of work—emphasizing that if the rapper-turned-actor took a role, he'd support it, except for his political stances.
