Hardas Village Residents Protest Over Drinking Water and Irrigation Crisis Hardas Village in Kargil witnessed a protest today over the continued shortage of drinking water and irrigation facilities following the flash flood that struck the village on August 2. The flash flood severely damaged the village’s drinking water source and irrigation canal, leaving residents without adequate water for both domestic use and agricultural purposes. Residents alleged that despite repeated concerns, no permanent solution had been provided by the civil administration so far. Expressing their frustration, the villagers staged a protest and blocked the highway for around one and a half hours. Following the protest, a team from the civil administration reached the spot and held discussions with the villagers. The administration assured the residents that their drinking water and irrigation-related problems would be resolved within two days. The villagers called for the assurance to be implemented at the earliest to restore normal water supply and support agricultural activities in the village.
