Margaret Beaufort - God's Will (The White Queen / The White Princess / The Spanish Princess)

« If you dedicate yourself to God, then everything you do will be His will. » If there is one character I never, ever thought I would edit, it is Margaret Beaufort ! When I first watched 'The White Queen', the mere presence of Henry VII’s mother infuriated me - a testament to the performance of Amanda Hale, who completely disappeared into this fanatical, hypocritical version of a woman whom Philippa Gregory’s work tended to demonize. It was while completing Emma Frost’s trilogy with 'The Spanish Princess' that I felt the urge to create a profile of her for the channel : the actresses who took up the mantle- and the rosary - all blew me away, despite writing that sometimes lacked nuance. Her relationship with faith and guilt, and her bond with the son she gave birth to at just thirteen... Margaret is undeniably a fascinating figure, and for all her flaws, the portrayal of her across these three series is unforgettable.
