Black-backed Dwarf Kingfisher - Koralwadi Aug 2026 ‪@19thjf‬

Black-backed Dwarf Kingfisher (ODKF) — the smallest and arguably the most beautiful kingfisher. This one was at Koralwadi, Karnala on 15th August 2026. Caught it right in that split second when it had left the perch — that stick with the creeper wound around it — and dived towards its nest on the bank. Green everywhere, the perch still in the frame, and the bird suspended in air for a fraction of a second. Grateful to have witnessed and photographed this jewel of the forest in its natural habitat.
