On May 27, 1949, Rita Hayworth married Prince Aly Khan at the town hall of Vallauris, watched by about 300 reporters, and at the reception 450 liters of cologne were poured into his swimming pool. In 1951 she filed for divorce in Reno, citing "extreme cruelty, entirely mental in nature." By 1952 she was back at Columbia on $3,500 a week, by 1953 she was paying a new husband's debts, and in 1954 a scandal magazine photographed her daughters at a babysitter's house in White Plains.
