Is the Olympus OM-D E-M5 Mark II still worth buying for photography in 2026? In this video, we take a look at why this vintage mirrorless camera remains an absolute powerhouse for still photography, even if its contrast-based autofocus means it is no longer my go-to hybrid camera for video.
Released in February 2015, this nearly 11-year-old Micro Four Thirds camera features a compact form factor and a 16-megapixel sensor that proves you don't need the latest gear to take incredible photos. We compare it to classic bodies like the Nikon D40 and Nikon D200, and explain why the Olympus E-M line gets unfairly overlooked compared with the newer OM System lineup (like the OM-1, OM-3, and OM-5). While its video capabilities can't compete with modern Sony, Canon, or Lumix cameras, its still-image quality and budget M43 lens ecosystem make it a hidden gem for street and travel photography today.
