Episode 20: Your Voice, Your Vote: Queer History & Voting in Texas

Grab your coffee, Coffee Breakers! This week, Maddie and Meaghan are talking about something that impacts our communities, workplaces, and everyday lives: voting, advocacy, and the power of showing up. With the 2026 midterm elections approaching, we're breaking down what Texas voters should know before heading to the polls. But we're also taking a trip through LGBTQ+ political history, including some incredible stories from right here in Dallas–Fort Worth! Did you know Dallas had its own Gay Political Caucus in the 1970s? Or that Harvey Milk visited Dallas in 1978? We're exploring how LGBTQ+ advocates helped shape political representation and why that history still matters today. We're not here to tell you who to vote for. We're here to encourage you to ask questions, know your rights, do your research, and recognize the power of your voice. Because whether you're a first-time voter, a seasoned election-day procrastinator (looking at you, Meaghan 👀), or someone who just wants to better understand the process, being informed matters. 2026 Texas Election Dates: 🗓️ Early Voting: October 19–30 🗓️ Election Day: November 3 🧡 Let’s keep building this queer coffee break community, one cup at a time. 🔔 Don’t forget to like, comment, and subscribe! 🎙 Listen on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, or YouTube 💖 Support us on Patreon for exclusive content!
