For this week's video, we revisit The Cure during a pivotal transitional period following the release of their always-controversial album The Top. Filmed at the Barrowland Ballroom in Glasgow, Scotland, on August 25, 1984, this one-hour concert was produced by the BBC under the title Rock Around the Clock '84.
The performance features frontman Robert Smith alongside Porl Thompson, Lol Tolhurst, Andy Anderson, and Phil Thornalley. While the concert was broadcast in various edited versions over the years, it has never aired in full. This edition includes the complete performance—except for the final track, "Forever," which was never broadcast.
Enjoy this rare concert with enhanced audio and video quality. Watch as The Cure delivers thirteen unforgettable songs that helped shape their legacy. And don’t miss Robert Smith dramatically “killing” his violin during the performance of the seldom-heard track The Caterpillar.
