Mokolo Lovy Longomba came from a distinguished musical family in Kin, Zaire the Congo, his father was Vicky Longomba, His First Born Longomba Richie, daughter Ellie Longomba and twin sons the Longombas consisting of the late Christian Longomba and prophet Lovy Longomba. Lovy started his music career at the age of 18 with Orchestre Macchi. He later formed Etumba na Ngwaka with singers Lofanga, Gaby Yau-Yau and Mukolo. He left Kinshasa in 1978 and moved to Uganda where he met Siama Matuzungidi, and they both moved to Nairobi where Lovy joined Les Kinois. He changed various bands before joining Super Mazembe where he got his famous nickname "Ya Mama" because he would sing the high women's part in story songs. His hits include, "Lovy, Mado, Yo mabe", "Pesa" "Ndeko", "Nanga", "Mokano" and "Elena". He formed his own group Super Lovy in 1981 before moving to Dar es Salaam in 1988 and performed with Afriso Ngoma,
Lovy Longomba Senior died in a car accident in 1996.
