💔 The Hurt You Never See – Mic | A Song About Grief, Loss & Being There for Each Other
*Sometimes the people who smile the most are the ones carrying the deepest pain.*
This song is very personal to me, and I want to share why I wrote it.
We're approaching the anniversary of my wife's passing, and as that date gets closer, the memories, the emotions and the feelings of loss become even stronger.
Losing someone you love changes your life forever.
You learn to carry on. You learn to smile again. You laugh, you talk, you go about your everyday life, and when someone asks how you're doing, you tell them you're alright.
But sometimes, behind that smile, there's a pain that never really goes away.
*That's the hurt people don't always see.*
Recently, a friend of mine lost his partner.
Watching him go through that heartbreak brought back so many memories of what I went through, and the feelings I still carry today.
I could see the pain he is experiencing because, in many ways, I recognised it.
That feeling of emptiness.
The silence where there used to be laughter.
The little things that suddenly remind you of the person you've lost.
The moments when you're surrounded by people but somehow still feel completely alone.
And the hardest part is knowing that no words can ever truly take that pain away.
Seeing my friend going through this made me think about my own journey, and it inspired me to write *"The Hurt You Never See."*
But this song isn't just about losing my wife.
It's about all of us who have lost someone we love.
It's about the pain we sometimes hide because we don't want to burden others.
It's about those moments when we say "I'm alright" because explaining how we really feel is just too difficult.
And most importantly...
❤️ *It's about reminding each other that we don't have to face that pain alone.*
We can't bring back the people we've lost.
We can't take away someone's grief or make everything better with a few simple words.
But we can be there.
We can listen.
We can check in on each other.
We can sit beside someone when they don't feel like talking.
We can offer a hand, a shoulder, or simply remind them that somebody cares.
Sometimes that's all a person needs.
*Not someone to fix their pain, but someone willing to share the weight of it.*
To my friend, and to anyone else who has recently lost someone they love, I want you to know that you're not alone.
I know how difficult those days can be, and although everyone's grief is different, we can still understand something of what each other is going through.
We don't always have to find the right words.
Sometimes just being there is enough.
And to my wife...
As another anniversary approaches, I still miss you. I still think about you, and there will always be a part of my heart that belongs to you.
This song comes from the love I still carry and the pain that sometimes sits quietly behind my smile.
But if there's one thing I've learned, it's that even in our darkest moments, having someone beside us can make those moments a little easier to face.
💔 *If you've lost someone, this song is for you.*
For the husbands missing their wives.
For the wives missing their husbands.
For those who have lost their partners, their family members or their closest friends.
For anyone who has ever smiled through heartbreak.
And for those who are standing beside someone who is grieving, wondering what they can do to help.
*Just be there.*
You don't need to have all the answers.
You don't need to know exactly what to say.
Sometimes the most powerful thing you can tell someone is:
*"You don't have to pretend you're alright with me."*

If this song touches you, please share it with someone who might need to hear it.
And if you've lost someone, you're welcome to share their name or a memory of them in the comments.
Let's make this a place where we can remember the people we've loved, support those who are grieving, and remind each other that none of us has to face life's hardest moments completely alone.
❤️ *We may not be able to take away each other's pain, but we can make sure nobody has to carry it alone.*
Thank you for listening.
