In the Room Where It Happens: Board of Elections Meeting Training

Ready to do something nerdy for multiracial democracy? County boards of elections (BOEs) are responsible for hiring and training poll workers, choosing the location of ballot drop boxes and polling sites, and other key functions. Yet their public meetings are badly advertised and poorly attended, resulting in decisions that aren’t fully informed by the needs of the communities they serve. And with there being zero known AAPIs serving on a Board of Elections in NJ, the needs of Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders are especially likely to be overlooked. Join AALDEF and AAPI NJ for a training that will prepare you to attend your county’s next Board of Election meeting and help ensure AAPIs are represented in the room where elections decisions are made.
