I spent 35 years in the fire service, the last 23 as a fire marshal, and in my final years on the job the answer to "where did it start" began to change. In this video I show you what a lithium battery actually is and why it burns the way it does, and the 4 habits that give you all of the good and almost none of the risk: never charge on a bed or couch, never buy the cheap charger or off-brand pack, retire any battery that swells, heats up or smells sweet, and the new rules for e-bikes and scooters that are changing the fire service right now.
