MMDR Act Controversy: BJD to Protest Outside Raj Bhavan

Former Odisha Chief Minister and BJD president Naveen Patnaik has written to BJP MPs, urging them to reconsider the Bill in the interest of the state and on the grounds of conscience. The BJD has alleged that the Bill could increase the Centre’s control over Odisha’s mineral resources and adversely affect the state’s mining revenue. During a press conference, BJD MLA Sanjay Das Burma and BJD Youth President Chinmoy Sahoo said that if the Bill is not withdrawn, the party will intensify its agitation. The BJD has announced plans to stage a dharna outside Raj Bhavan and has also warned of an Odisha Bandh.
