The sound of Buddhist prayer chants, magnificent golden sculptures, intricate Tibetan artwork and colourful wall paintings created an incredibly calm and serene environment. 🧘‍♂️🙏 The highlight was seeing the magnificent life-size Buddha statue inside the monastery. Standing in front of it and taking in the surroundings was genuinely a beautiful experience — one that is difficult to capture in words. ✨ Namdroling Monastery is located in Bylakuppe's Tibetan settlement, one of the most significant Tibetan settlements in India. The monastery is particularly known for its spectacular Buddhist architecture, large statues and vibrant artwork. 🏯 NAMDROLING MONASTERY – GOLDEN TEMPLE 📍 Location: Bylakuppe, Karnataka 📌 Google Maps: Namdroling Monastery – Golden Temple The monastery is currently listed by Google Maps as being open approximately 9 AM–6 PM, although timings can change, so it's always worth checking before your visit. 🍜 TIFFIN? NO… TIBETAN LUNCH! 😋🥟 After exploring the monastery, we stopped for lunch at Tibetan Kitchen (Rooftop), a nearby Tibetan restaurant. And this was another highlight of the day! ❤️ 🍜 Thukpa 🥟 Momos 😋 Delicious Tibetan flavours 💰 Affordable pricing 🍽️ Good portion sizes ✨ Clean, neat & aesthetically designed ambience 🏳️‍🌈 Beautiful Tibetan prayer flags adding to the atmosphere We really enjoyed the food here and would definitely recommend trying Thukpa and Momos if you're visiting the Namdroling Monastery area. There are also several other Tibetan restaurants around the monastery, so you won't have trouble finding Tibetan food in the area. 🌧️ THE JOURNEY HOME After a peaceful visit to the Golden Temple and a satisfying Tibetan lunch, it was finally time to head back home to Bengaluru. 🚗💨 And just as we started our journey back, the rain joined us! 🌧️❤️ The drive back through the rainy Karnataka landscape made for a beautiful ending to our Coorg road trip.
