A couple of years ago Congress changed a list. Title 38, section 1116 — the conditions the VA presumes came from Agent Orange. The last item on it now reads, in full: "Hypertension." Everything else on that list is rare. Bladder cancer. Multiple myeloma. High blood pressure is the most ordinary condition in America. A change that would have been a footnote for anything else reaches an enormous number of households, and almost nobody it affects was told. It doesn't. 38 CFR 3.2500: for a supplemental claim filed more than a year after a decision, the effective date "will not be earlier than the date of receipt of the supplemental claim." File tomorrow on a 2010 denial, you're paid from tomorrow. The court-supervised process that does reach backwards is tied to the 1991 Act. Hypertension came in through the PACT Act of 2022. It doesn't apply. Which makes this the most time-sensitive thing on this channel. Every month you wait is gone. ⚠️ AND ABOUT THE MONEY The 10 percent criterion is not "you take a tablet." It reads: a minimum evaluation for someone with a history of diastolic pressure predominantly 100 or more who requires continuous medication for control. Two conditions, not one.
