Australian Trains in 1981 | Vintage Railways, Steam & Diesel

Travel back to Australia in 1981 through this collection of original vintage railway footage, featuring steam and diesel locomotives, passenger trains, stations and rail scenes filmed across Australia. This approximately 10-minute compilation comes from original home-movie film that has been preserved and digitized. Rather than focusing on one city or railway, it captures a variety of Australian trains and railway scenes from the period. If you recognize any of the locomotives, stations, railway lines or locations shown in the film, please leave a comment — I’d love to identify as many of them as possible.
