What does it take to sustain a life of great teaching, and what can planning educators at every career stage learn from someone who has done it for decades?
In this session, Dr. Bishwapriya Sanyal, Ford International Professor of Urban Development and Planning at MIT, reflects on what great planning education looks like and what it takes to build it. Drawing on decades of teaching planning across the Global North and South, he discusses:
• How faculty can grow as educators over the course of a career
• How to mentor the next generation of planners with intention
• How teaching and research can strengthen one another
Dr. Sanyal received the 2021 ACSP Distinguished Educator Award and is an MIT MacVicar Faculty Fellow. The session closes with open Q&A.
