Original music inspired by The Mercy, an original post-apocalyptic science fiction world where 99% of humanity has been turned to mineralised statues by an unexplained event, the survivors call those lost the Paled, and the event itself the Mercy. Lyrics by Musicis Fabulis. Music and vocals produced using digital composition tools. See my The Mercy playlist for more songs from this world. A courier guild reopens a warehouse where letters have waited through vanished routes, failed settlements and twenty silent years. Each message may reunite a family, overturn an adoption or reach someone who stopped believing the sender survived. The words travel more slowly than grief, but even a late letter can restore a name, reopen a wound or change a life. (Verse 1) The courier guild unsealed the rusted warehouse door, Where sacks of names lay silent in the dust across the floor. The letters waited twenty years through vanished roads and fears, While ink outlived the voices and the paper held their tears. (Verse 2) They sorted every faded mark by route and witness hand, Then carried words towards the Houses scattered through the land. One envelope could call a lost and long-forgotten name, Or tell a child their raising kin were never quite the same. (Chorus) The Dead-Letter House sends every waiting message slow, Through roads rebuilt too late for half the hands that let them go. Some words arrive as proof that those once mourned had still been known, While others reach an empty chair and find no living home. (Verse 3) A mother’s final promise crossed a broken mountain thread, And reached the grown-up daughter who had long believed her dead. A sealed adoption letter named another household’s right, And turned a family’s quiet law to argument by night. (Verse 4) One father wrote from coastal ground to find his missing son, But twenty years of silence left the answer long undone. The courier found the living man beneath a changed route name, Then watched him break the old seal and confront the buried claim. (Chorus) The Dead-Letter House sends every waiting message slow, Through roads rebuilt too late for half the hands that let them go. Some words arrive as proof that those once mourned had still been known, While others reach an empty chair and find no living home. (Bridge) The paper crossed the world more slowly than the weight of pain, And every faded sentence carried weather, dust and rain. No courier could promise that the truth had come too late, For grief may close a doorway while a letter learns to wait. (Outro) So lamps burn through the evening in the Dead-Letter room, Where names are raised from silence like small flowers from a tomb. The messages keep travelling beyond belief and grief, For sometimes one surviving word can make the dead world brief. #scifimusic #scifi #metal #thrash #southernrock #postapocalypic
