Photo Tour of Fort McCoy Military Vehicle Park

Today ‪@CheeseheadMotors‬ recognizes the 25th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks with this photo tour of the Fort McCoy military vehicle yard near Tomah, Wisconsin. Thousands of Americans civilians and military personnel have sacrificed their lives in the War on Terror since that fateful day, with military installations across the country and the world contributing to upholding national and international security. Fort McCoy supported many national defense missions, including Operations Iraqi Freedom, Enduring Freedom, Noble Eagle and New Dawn. More than 140,000 military personnel mobilized or demobilized at Fort McCoy since September 11, 2001 with approximately 67,200 completing their final mobilization, specialized training, and direct deployment sequence by the end of fiscal year 2011. The installation was officially designated Camp McCoy on November 19, 1926 and played a major role in domestic military activities after the United States entered WWII following the Japanese attack on Pearly Harbon 85 years ago (December 7, 1941). Camp McCoy was the largest holding facility for Japanese POWs in the continental United States and also housed several thousand German and Korean POWs.
