Stepping away from the main tourist areas of Siem Reap, we headed to the Bakong District to hunt down the most authentic, delicious, and incredibly CHEAP local food! If you want to see how the locals really eat (and how far your Riel can go), this is the video for you. What we ate in this video: 🍜 Prahok Noodle: We started bold with a local favorite! These fresh rice noodles are served with a rich, funky, and incredibly flavorful Prahok (fermented fish paste) broth, loaded with fresh herbs and veggies. 🥞 1000 Riel Banh Chev ($0.25): Next, we found a spot selling crispy, savory Cambodian crepes stuffed with minced meat and bean sprouts for literally pennies. Wrapping these in fresh lettuce with sweet fish sauce is pure heaven. 🍢 500 Riel Sach Ko Ang ($0.12): We ended the food tour at an amazing local grill. These smoky, sweet, and savory Khmer beef skewers are dangerously addictive, especially when paired with the classic tangy papaya pickle! 📍 Location: Bakong District, Siem Reap Province, Cambodia (Home to the famous Bakong Temple of the Roluos Group, but also packed with amazing local village life and street food!) Which of these three foods would you want to try first? Let me know in the comments below!
