Sunny Mushroom Hunting in Šumava 🍄‍🟫 Porcini, Scarletina & Bay Boletes | Autumn 2026

A sunny fall afternoon takes us into the forests near Keply in Šumava for another day of mushroom hunting. Right at the beginning, we came across an unusual find - a lost horseshoe lying on the forest road. Bay Boletes (Imleria badia) were by far the most common mushrooms we found, accompanied by a few porcini mushrooms (Boletus edulis) and Scarletina Boletes (Neoboletus luridiformis). The first mushrooms were mostly smaller, but later in the walk we started finding better specimens, with some of the nicest appearing near the end. Warm sunlight filters through the trees as we search among moss, fallen needles, and the forest floor. With plenty of mushrooms to look for and new finds appearing throughout the walk, it turned into another enjoyable afternoon of mushroom hunting in Šumava.
