💀 end of a life Piano Arrangement

Been on a lot of trips these past couple of months but when Calli's new single dropped a week ago I knew I wanted to work on it when I got back! It's a very mellow track, but the lyrics are as melancholy as they are smooth. Calli's handle on wordplay always impresses me! Comments about the arrangement...hm, I guess I didn't expect there to be so much swing? Rhythmically, it makes sense—especially in terms of her rap style—but since I'd only listened to the song like twice before I decided to arrange it, it caught me off-guard 😆 I mean, I could've just been lazy and went "the sixteenths follow a swing rhythm" but it still wouldn't sound that way in playback, and I make these arrangements so I can listen to them too 😄 I also considered other things like cutting the measures in half or something to improve readability, but it didn't really flow right in my mind. Oh well 😂 did the best with the time I had! About the song itself, it's very pleasant and catchy and, as most of her songs are, deeply personal to her. I think it rounds out her current repertoire really well, and I'm glad she enjoys the fact that people relate to it so much. Per usual, I adapted the rap parts melodically the way I felt like it at the time. It's all ad-lib anyway so feel free to experiment as you wish! I think there's a lot of opportunity for improvisation in terms of this song's melody—that's how it usually is when the chord progression stays consistent throughout a whole song 😁 Thank you for listening—as the holidays season approaches, I've had less time for personal projects like arrangements, but I still work on them as I can. Cheers and take care!
