You can find many cheap hotels in George Town, but this one goes a little too far!
This hotel also has a hostel living area, which is right next to your private room, which costs $20 a night.
You sleep next to the Hostel Dorm and the public bathroom. You have to share it with other guests and it wasn't clean all time. At 4 am in the morning people just go shower and there is no door between the floor. So you listen everything, even if they try to close the door quiet.
You find in this hostel a lot of locals and outsider they live in Malaysia for a long time and found a new home in this accommodation. That is fully okay, but maybe this is the reason why this Hostel lost his feeling to be a hostel, open for travelers.
What makes a hostel attractive to stay for your best time, if you travel in Asia? A kitchen to cook your own food, community games and entertainment like movie nights. Just take a look to the living room and you find out it is more a place to sleep or to work remotely. If you like to celebrate, this is not the right place for you.
There are too many reasons why you should avoid this hotel in George Town, Penang. Btw the people don't like to talk each other and I can understand it. Been to many places like this and this is really not the place you like to be. It looks nice on the pictures but the reality is different.
However we going to the historical part, where you find at the Chinatown delicious street food all night if you are still hungry at 3 am. You also have there the nightlife district with life music and many other tourists.
What else is closed by what some tourists might to skip is the Little India. Let's see if its more exited like in Kuala Lumpur. But what I can tell you we should call it little little India. There is really not so much to do, for non Indians.
Before you stay in a Hostel, because you like to meet people just talk with the travelers you find on the streets or in restaurants. There is no point to book a hotel which is more open for backpackers and other tourists.
If you look for a real Hostel, you have to take a look more deeper inside the accommodation, if it's what you looking for. Sometimes you have to pay more per night, but you avoid hotels they are not worth to stay.
