To pytanie wciąż pozostaje otwarte. Ten materiał to zapis końca pewnej epoki – ale też początek nowego rozdziału. This marks a symbolic moment for Silesia, a region deeply connected with heavy industry, mining, and the identity of working communities. In this video, I present fragments of this unique day – speeches, the final moments of the mine, and voices of people for whom Wujek was more than just a workplace. However, this is not the definitive end of the site. Part of the mine’s infrastructure – selected buildings and shafts – is planned to be handed over to the Silesian Center for Freedom and Solidarity. This institution preserves the memory of one of the most significant events in Polish history: the pacification of the Wujek mine in 1981. Thanks to this transformation, the area will gain a new life as an educational space and memorial site open to visitors. The future of the remaining part of the mine is still uncertain. Will the area be redeveloped, revitalized, or share the fate of many other post-industrial sites in Silesia? This question remains open. This video is a record of the end of an era – but also the beginning of a new chapter.
