Tour:    • A Night at the Opera Tour (1975 - 1976)   | Leg 3: Japan Date: 22nd March 1976 Venue: Nippon Budokan City: Tokyo, Japan Attendance: ca. 14,000 Used recording(s): • Audience recording by Mr. Peach (A-): AUD ► ? ► "Geisha Boys - The Complete Tokyo Tapes" (Empress Valley EVSD-1105-1112) ► EAC ► WAV ► FLAC Just ten days after the end of the North American leg of the "Opera" Tour, Queen embark on their second tour through Japan, prompted by the massive success of their Japanese tour in the previous year. Having arrived a few days earlier, the lack of a proper pause between legs and the often cold spring in Japan may have led to Freddie getting sick very soon, turning this leg into the first of a long-stretching case of Japanese tours with Freddie in bad vocal shape - for tonight, his voice usually cooperates and doesn't give him too much trouble yet, but this would change with the following night. While the band would usually make up for that, Brian has a particularly off night tonight, facing string breaks, tuning problems and all in all giving an uncharacteristically sloppy performance ("White Queen" surely is the worst live performance of the song ever) although he does improve as the show goes on and offers great work during numbers as "Doing All Right" and "Liar". Due to the little preparation time for this leg, the setlist hasn't changed from the one played in North America and would only do so in the following days. 00:00:00 - 01. Intro (tape) 00:01:23 - 02.
