Ep.86 - Renovating A French Barn With My Son: Teaching The Skills My Dad Taught Me

This summer, the French barn became a real family project. In this episode, Oscar and I get stuck into one of the biggest stages of the renovation so far — adding a new floor, lifting and fitting beams, laying pipework and transforming the area around the barn. For me, this project is about more than just renovating an old French barn. It’s about learning as we go, figuring things out together, and passing on some of the skills and knowledge I was taught along the way. There’s plenty of hard work, a fair amount of improvisation, and a few moments where we definitely had to work out how we were going to get the job done! We also start tackling the huge amount of earth that has accumulated around the barn, beginning the transformation of the outside space and patio.
