Sit down, traveller. Tonight the two of them will tell it together.
Tamsin Larkspur tells you what's true. Her twin Dobbin sings you what's beautiful. They shared a stage only once, at the Golden Bridge Inn in Westgate, and that night nobody remembered to order a drink. Dobbin got the fish right this time. Tamsin had to remind him, of course.

LYRICS
[Intro — Tamsin]
Sit down, traveller.
Tonight the two of us will tell it.
I'll tell you what's true.
My brother will tell you what's beautiful.
[Verse 1 — Tamsin]
Ninth of Kelvaran, and the dawn hadn't broken,
Mist on the river, not a word had been spoken.
An old man hauls his net from the same old spot,
Forty years of fishing, but today what he's got
Is a plank burned black that never rotted away,
Warm like it's breathing, at the break of the day,
And carved in its heart is a circle, hollow and dark,
And a boy comes running barefoot: "Brother, come quick! It's got a mark!"
And a watchman learns, as the mist starts to lift,
That some secrets don't sink. The river sets them adrift.
[Pre-Chorus — Tamsin]
The name wasn't his, but he carried it through…
The blood wasn't his, but it proved to be true…
[Chorus — Dobbin]
The bridge remembers, the bridge won't forget,
The stones keep quiet, but the ash isn't done yet,
The one who bears the name will come back home,
The sea will know him, and give him back his own!
[Verse 2 — Tamsin]
Up on the hill there's a steward alone,
Twenty years with a key and a door he's never known.
A ledger: eighty nights, eighty times written "cold,"
And a vow on the first page, a hundred years old:
"Should my blood run out, let the one with my name return…"
Traveller, tell me, have you seen a joke become a vow, and burn?
A one-eyed fisherman says, "There's a hole full of nothing,
And out of that nothing, something looked at me. Something."
[Bridge — Tamsin]
Midnight.
A silver lantern.
Letters waking in the stone.
"Reach out your hand," said the dark.
He did.
His father caught his wrist.
Then one last crack was left…
and a palm.
Not a palm, traveller.
A heart.
[Verse 3 — Dobbin, with Tamsin cutting in]
The river ran cold and a wave rose high,
(There was no wind.)
His mother's stone fell where the dark used to lie,
(A whirlpool stone.)
Kelvara laughed and the door slammed tight,
(The frogs…)
Dobbin: And a pike jumped aboard in the middle of the night!
Tamsin: A pike, Dobbin. Not a sturgeon.
Dobbin: I said pike this time, didn't I!
[Final Chorus — both]
The bridge remembers, the bridge won't forget,
The stones keep quiet, but the ash isn't done yet,
The one who bears the name will come back home,
The sea will know him, and give him back his own!
The sea will know him…
and give him back his own.
[Outro — Tamsin]
Your name isn't where you come from, traveller.
Your name is where you come back to.
…And the tavern, of course… We always come back to the tavern.
