In this complete DIY guide, I'll walk you through replacing the spark plugs on your 2024 Audi Q5 45 TFSI (2.0L turbo – EA888 Gen4 engine). This important 60,000-mile/6-year service restores smooth idle, improves throttle response, fixes misfires, and prevents coil damage. The job takes 45–90 minutes and saves you $400–$600 compared to dealer prices!
Factory spark plug spec (DO NOT use anything else):
Genuine Audi/VW NGK SILZKBR8E8S (laser platinum, iridium) – Part #06M905606F
Gap: 0.028" (0.7 mm) – pre-gapped from factory, do NOT adjust
Torque: 22–23 Nm (16 ft-lbs) – critical!
Tools you'll need:
5/8" thin-wall spark plug socket (essential – regular sockets will crack the porcelain)
3/8" ratchet + 6" and 12" extensions
T30 Torx bit (engine cover & coil bolts)
10mm socket (ground strap on some models)
Torque wrench (set to 23 Nm)
Dielectric grease & anti-seize (optional but recommended)
Shop vac or compressed air

Pro tip: Do this job when the engine is cold! The aluminum head expands when hot and can make plugs extremely hard to remove.
