In this lesson, I’m walking you through all of the prep work for machine appliqué embroidery using a design from Smart Needle called Harvest Harmony.
We’ll start by taking the machine embroidery design into Embrilliance, where I’ll show you how I identify and set the appliqué placement positions and save those shapes as cutting files.
From there, we’ll take those cutting files into Brother CanvasWorkspace so we can check the sizing, prepare the files, and send them to the cutting machine.
Before we move over to the Scan-N-Cut, I’ll also show you how I prepare my fabric for cutting so the appliqué pieces are ready to go.
Then we’ll head to the Brother Scan-N-Cut and cut out the appliqué fabric pieces ahead of time. By pre-cutting the fabric, everything is ready to place during the embroidery process and there’s much less trimming to do at the machine.
This video is all about getting the fabric and appliqué pieces completely prepared before the embroidery stitch-out begins.
The design featured in this lesson is Harvest Harmony by Smart Needle.
To see the actual embroidery and stitch-out of this project, be sure to watch my video from September 23, 2026, where we complete the project.
If you enjoy machine embroidery, appliqué, Embrilliance, Brother CanvasWorkspace, and the Scan-N-Cut, I hope you’ll join me!
