Its story began with the South China Local Products Exhibition in 1951. The site later became Lingnan Cultural Palace and received its current name in 1956. Exhibitions, performances and seasonal fairs have made it part of Guangzhou's everyday cultural life. The park's 2026 Mid-Autumn Lantern Festival begins on this date. Beyond the festival, the park remains a public place where the city's history meets the daily life of Liwan.
