Canada's New Pipeline Is Shaking the Entire Oil Industry

In 2025, 90.1 percent of Canada's crude oil exports went to the United States. On October 1, 2026, in Fort McMurray, Prime Minister Mark Carney named Pacific Link, a pipeline designed to carry about 1 million barrels a day to the West Coast, mainly for Asian markets, as the first project of national interest under the Building Canada Act. In this documentary we look at the pipelines that died before it, the Trans Mountain expansion that more than tripled Canada's oil exports to other countries, who owns and pays for Pacific Link, Scotiabank's cost scenarios from 35.2 to 65.6 billion dollars, and the First Nations, environmental groups and separatists who oppose it, on the day Alberta votes in its referendum.
