We spent a beautiful day exploring the Tesselaar Tulip Festival in Silvan, Victoria, one of Australia’s most iconic spring events. Even though this year’s tulips faced their toughest season in decades due to unusual weather, the festival grounds were still full of colour, music, and life.
Our walk took us through rows of tulips, garden beds filled with other spring flowers, and the festival’s charming Dutch‑inspired setting. The windmills made the perfect place to sit, relax, and enjoy the sunshine while bees darted between the blossoms. Even in a challenging bloom year, the atmosphere remained vibrant and uplifting.
One of the highlights was the live music scattered throughout the festival. Acoustic sets, folk tunes, and upbeat performances added a warm soundtrack to the day as we wandered from one garden section to the next. The food stalls were buzzing too, offering everything from festival favorites to sweet treats and local specialties.
We also visited the Fairy Garden, a whimsical corner complete with tiny houses, colorful decorations, and even dragons tucked among the flowers. It’s a fun stop for families and anyone who enjoys a touch of fantasy in their outdoor adventures.
Beyond the tulips, the festival showcased a variety of other blooms—vibrant annuals, lush garden beds, and pockets of color that made the walk feel rich and varied. Even with fewer tulips than usual, the overall experience was still beautiful, peaceful, and full of moments worth capturing.
