Evening Prayer - Joanna Marsh - Tenebrae conducted by Nigel Short

Joanna Marsh's Evening Prayer is an atmospheric setting of Lancelot Andrewes' prayer from his Preces Privatae (1555-1626). It is a contemplative piece, written in six vocal parts and inspired by Josef Rheinberger's Abendlied. This recording was filmed live at St Mary's Church, Ealing in March 2024. ___ Lord, The day is gone, and I give Thee thanks, O Lord. Evening is at hand, make it bright unto us. As day has its evening, so also has life; make it bright unto us. Cast me not away in the time of age; Forsake me not when my strength faileth me. Abide with me, Lord, for it is toward evening, And the day is far spent of this fretful life. Let Thy strength be made perfect in my weakness. ___ Sopranos: Isabella Gibber, Hannah King, Laura Newey, Áine Smith, Rosanna Wicks Altos: Amy Blythe, Hannah Cooke, Eleanor Minney, Elisabeth Paul, Anna Semple Tenors: Jeremy Budd, Jack Granby, Hamish MacGregor, Joseph Wicks Basses: Joseph Edwards, Simon Grant, Jimmy Holliday, Owain Park, Jonathan Pratt Director: Nigel Short ___ If you enjoy our videos, please support us with a donation: https://www.tenebrae-choir.com/support To buy the score, head to: https://joannamarsh.co.uk/product/eve...
